Welcome graphic

Hi Everyone,

Well folks it is better news for once as Heather has shown some improvement over the last few weeks.  We are not sure why this has happened although there are a number of theories.

It's That Smile Again!

Heather enjoys a Cinzano at the local.

The picture above - taken September '09 - shows Heather drinking unaided, an ability she lost not long after.  Two days ago she suddenly put out her hands for her mug and completed the same function.

Second good news is that there is no further deterioration in her lung condition.

It's not all good though as she has difficulty eating and swallowing and we called in a Speech & Language Therapist for advice.  We were doing the right things generally but the therapist gave us some useful tips.  Heather also has problems with 'secretions' - a clear sticky fluid - clogging her throat which she hasn't the ability to cough up naturally and we may need to use a suction device.

Overall Heather is more alert and responsive and seems happy with life.  Fatigue has a significant impact on her life but she still enjoys going out for 'retail therapy' or a meal, or preferably both.

That's about it for now.  Luv to everyone.
